GEO for your
category.

The same shift, buyers building their shortlist inside AI before they ever talk to sales, plays out differently in every category. These guides cover how companies in a specific B2B category show up when their buyers ask AI: the buyer, the questions, and the content that earns a citation.

How a company gets cited in AI answers depends on its category. Who the buyer is, how they research, which engines they trust, and what content earns a citation all change from one vertical to the next. Each guide below applies the same method to a specific category, so you can see what GEO looks like for a company like yours.

What changes from one category to the next

The method carries across categories; the sources that decide the answer do not. Which third-party surfaces an engine leans on, and so what earns a citation, shifts from one vertical to the next, and even how consistently a known brand shows up is category-dependent: appearance rates in AI answers run from about 30% in broad categories to about 97% in narrow ones (SparkToro and Gumshoe, 2,961 runs). A crowded, broadly defined category is a different game from a narrow one with a handful of named players.

The differences fall into a few shapes. In regulated, trust-heavy categories like background check, compliance automation, and data privacy, third-party accreditation, auditor authority, and reviews carry more weight than your own homepage. In developer-led categories like open banking, incident management, and data observability, the documentation, migration guides, and independent trackers engineers already read are what get cited. In young or still-forming categories like ITDR and ASPM, buyers are still asking what the category is and where it fits, so clear definitional content is what an engine pulls into the answer.
